Next up in our countdown of the Hottest 100 gadgets on the planet is the DeWitt Twenty-8-Eight Tourbillon
If you’re wondering what the hell’s going on with this timepiece, it’s skeletonised. Or that’s the technical term anyway; we’d say it looks like it’s been stripped for parts. But it looks pretty awesome, letting you see the 185 components doing their thing.
Among them are an 18-karat yellow gold escapement and a Strauman Hairspring with Phillips curve. And yes, that’s a tourbillon at six o’clock, so you can watch it twist and turn as you move the watch.
The tourbillon is meant to improve the watch accuracy, but whenever we see one we just stare at it moving this way and that, it’s mesmerising, this way and that, this way and that…
