It's Prime Day and while there are plenty of deals on Amazon products, as expected, Apple is getting in on the act too.

There are some amazing deals on AirPods headphones, for example, with AirPods and AirPods Pro in-ears getting tasty discounts. However, it's the AirPods Max over-ears that have really caught our eye - not least because you get a mighty $100 off all of the different colored models.

Apple's own-branded over-ear headphones are among the rare few that support its spatial audio surround sound technology. They also provide high-fidelity audio and come with active noise cancelling to block out unwanted ambient distractions.

The deal applies to every color of AirPods Max - green (as above), pink, sky blue, silver and space grey.

Amazon guarantees that the prices are the "lowest in 30 days".

Why buy the Apple AirPods Max?

Apple is the owner of the Beats audio brand but introduced its own over-ear headphones at the end of 2020.

Sporting the H1 chip for easy link-up to Apple devices, plus some extra audio functionality, the AirPods Max can be used wirelessly or wired (via an USB-C to Lightning cable).

When connected by the lead, the AirPods Max can play lossless audio (well, 24bit 48kHz), although they offer great performance no matter the source material. There is also Spatial Audio tech on board, so you get dynamic head tracking on supported tracks. It means you can hear the sound change position as you move your head, as if you were at a gig, say.

There is active noise cancellation too, and the headphones support Siri, of course.

Battery life lasts up to 20 hours for music playback or movie watching. You also get a slim "smart case" with the AirPods Max.

It's worth remembering that all Prime Day deals (which run through to the end of play on 12 July 2023) will require Amazon Prime membership. However, new subscribers can sign up for free and get 30-days of the service on trial. You can then cancel at any time.
