The Froyo wait is finally over for HTC Desire owners with T-Mobile

According to T-Mobile's support forum, Android 2.2 Froyo is ready to be sent over-the-air (OTA) to all HTC Desire users.

Here's what the post on the forum said: " We have some exciting news for all our Desire users. The 2.2 firmware update (FroYo) will be available from today and will be sent over the air (OTA) direct to your phone over the coming weeks."

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC had announced Froyo for unlocked HTC Desire users in UK at the end of July, so it was a longer wait for handsets locked to a particular operator.

The Android 2.2 update will provide 720p video capture, HTC's App Share widget, as well as enhanced HTC Caller ID, and improved multi-language keyboard. Also, though the update, HTC Sync will allow HTC Desire users to sync their music with iTunes.

Do remember to save all personal data before downloading as the software upgrade can delete data from the device.

If you're one of the lucky T-Mobile HTC Desire users to get the Froyo OTA update, do let us know of the experience on Twitter and Facebook.
