Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 is barely a week old. But already it’s getting a new slate sibling, with news emerging from Korea of an 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab.

Korea’s Yonhap News Agency says it’s spoken with a Samsung exec, who said the newly minted tab, which will sit alongside the existing 7-inch and 10.1-inch versions, will be available from mobile networks.

While Samsung says the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab will definitely be released in the first half of 2011, Korean news sites are claiming it could be out next month. That’d mean it be going right up against the Motorola Xoom, HP TouchPad and iPad 2.
