Style icon Mischa Barton has teamed up with London case maker Uunique to create a fashionable line of covers for your iPhone and iPad

Ahhh, fashion and technology. It’s been a bumpy road hasn’t it? Remember the ill-advised Pierre Cardin Android tablet? Or the actually-not-that-bad Prada phone from LG? Both had stylish, big-name brands behind them and pretty much failed to make an impact on the tech community.
But, on the other hand, there’s a certain Doctor we can point to that has pretty much revolutionised the headphone market - proving that tech and style don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Step forward Mischa Barton, the actress and style icon most of us know from TV’s The OC, who has designed her own range of iPhone and iPad cases along with London tech brand Uunique.
“Uunique approached me and I thought it would be a really interesting thing to design something that was both functional and fashionable,” Mischa said at the Knightsbridge launch of her new range.
“We wanted to incorporate different types of embroidery and embossing and different fabrics. I see a lot of use for different kinds of fake metals and Perspex, fake wood, cork and plastics and to just see what you can do,” she told a nodding T3.com - we don't really know much about fashion.
“Anything I’m inspired by that I like, I take pictures of to catalogue and keep, it’s an ongoing process.”
The range, which is called “Uunique by Mischa” starts at £34.99 and, admittedly, is probably more for the female iPhone users than us chaps.
“I’m not much of a gadget person, but I do love my iPad and iPad stand, that’s pretty forward thinking in my world,” Mischa said, after we casually steered the conversation towards tech.
“I had an 80’s robot that lit up and had wheels that would turn, and I decided to stick that on my head when I was about four. It ate my hair up and we had to cut all my hair off. So I was pretty bald as a five year old – maybe that explains my fear of gadgets in general,” she told us.
“I’m quite a science geek actually. So if I see gadgets I’ll quite enjoy playing with them, but I don’t really own that many.”
Alongside Mischa’s range, Uunique has also unveiled the Uunique London Lotus iPhone case, which it claims is the most expensive iPhone 5 case in the world. Decorated with 18-carat rose gold, pink and white diamonds, the Lotus case would set you back a mere £189,000. Best start saving.
