Xbox 720 set to launch at the E3 expo in June 2015

As Kinect extends Xbox Slim's life by an extra five years

Will E3's conference in five years' time reveal the next MS Console?

With all the buzz surrounding last week’s announcement of Microsoft Kinect, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that the Xbox 360 is now far-from-sprightly at five years old. Those holding on for a genuine sequel to the ageing console will be distraught to hear, however, that the motion-controlling add-on has added an extra five years to it’s life.

In an interview with, Microsoft's European boss Chris Lewis said: "I think 2010 will be a very big year for us, it is in many ways for us mid-lifecycle. What you've seen is with this new sleek design and Kinect for Xbox 360 we've got at least another five years of this generation where we continue to offer great experiences for people.”

We wouldn’t take what Lewis said as a de facto date for your diary, but if the current breed of Xbox 360 will die a death in five years, then presumably the company will use E3 in June 2015 to unveil the new Xbox 720?

Only time will tell, of course, but 2015 is what the smart money says. Lewis went on to say that Microsoft is “uniquely placed to continue to do really, really well in this business and enjoy ongoing momentum."
Your move, Sony…
