Samsung Galaxy S Pro Android handset Specs Leak

The new 4G Phone tackles the HTC Evo

Will it ever make its way over here? 4G says maybe not.

Another day, another Samsung Galaxy handset; today the Samsung Galaxy S Pro has had its specs leaked by an AndroidCentral tipster. So what are we looking at? We’d already suspected that it’d use the recently developed Samsung Super AMOLED screen technology to combat the readability problems face under direct sunlight, but it’s now understood that the Samsung Galaxy S Pro is to be Sprint’s second 4G phone, which means it may never see the light of day over here.

Other than this, notable features include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5MP camera on the back and a VGA on the front. Word from the AndroidCentral whistle-blower who got their hands on it says it feels cheap and plasticky, although this was only a prototype so could be subject to change.

Compared to HTC’s EVO 4G, it’s shorter, more narrow, and obviously thicker due to the slide-out keyboard, which sports soft plastic keys. It is powered by the Samsung/Intrinsity ARM Cortex A8 @ 1GHz processor, and has 512MB of RAM.

There’s likely to be a lot of advancements to the Galaxy S Pro over the next few months before its release, but the current prototype is using the new TouchWiz 3.0 customisations, the Android 2.1 update, usual Sprint software with Sprint TV sufficiently working over 4G, 3G and WiFi.

There’s no official word on release date yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
