4G coming to the UK thanks to Samsung?

We get a lot of emails and tweets asking whether the HTC Evo is ever going to make it on to these shores. The 4G phone is currently the US’ number one iPhone competitor due to its blisteringly fast 4G connection, but it won’t see the light of day over here because the 4G tech there isn’t the kind we’ll end up with here.

While the Evo runs on WiMax, whereas the 4G system the UK is working on implementing is LTE. This morning the first pictures have leaked of the Samsung Craft (SCH-R900), which is the first LTE smartphone, set for release at the end of this year for around $300 (£192).

Details are few and far between - we only know that it’ll have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3-Meg camera - and its operating system is currently unknown. We’ll bring you more news as we get it, but check out the gallery for some blur-o-vision LTE spy shots.
