HTC Evo 3D release: 3D phone pulled from Vodafone website

'Delays' blamed for 3D smartphone's disappearance

HTC's pioneering 3D handset does a disappearing act from Vodafone's website due to mystery 'delays'

Vodafone customers keen to join the 3D smartphone bandwagon may be a mite upset today, as it appears that the HTC Evo 3D is no longer bound for the network. The handset, which is one of the only two 3D handsets currently bound for the UK, was originally in the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the Vodafone site but has now been completely removed.

Speaking to TechRadar, Vodafone said: "We've decided that due to delays to the launch of the device, we no longer plan to include the HTC EVO 3D in our smartphone range. We will be contacting customers who have registered for updates about the device to make them aware of this decision shortly.

"We realise this will come as a disappointment to some people,” continued the network, “but we already offer some fantastic phones, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2,with some really exciting handsets in the pipeline and we'll continue to focus on bringing the latest and greatest smartphones to Vodafone customers."

This will no doubt come as bad news to anyone eagerly awaiting the next-gen handheld, but it comes as a result of delays which may now see the handset released in September – a far cry from the proposed July 23rd release date.
