Hands-on Apple iPad 3 review hits the web prior to launch
Forget CES 2012, Apple iPad 3 rumours are back on the board with the first claimed iPad 3 hands-on hitting the web ahead of the device's unveiling
With just three days of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas still to run, CES 2012 is already old news with claims of the first hands-on Apple iPad 3 review already hitting the web.
Tipped for a March or April unveiling the eagerly awaited third-generation Apple tablet has been the thing of wild rumour and speculation for a number of months with Apple blog iLounge claiming to have scooped an exclusive hands-on with the device prior to launch.
Apple iPad 3 Features
Offering little update on the hugely popular and current leader of the tablet market the Apple iPad 2, the mooted iPad 3 is said to sport a body just 1mm thicker than its predecessor in order to make space for the long touted Retina style display.
"From the back, you could walk past this new iPad on display and have no idea that anything had changed," the claimed iPad 3 hands-on announced. "This device so resembles the iPad 2 that differences are only obvious when they’re placed next to each other."
The report went on to add: "From the front, the next iPad and iPad 2 appear to look basically the same—apart, of course, from the screen. That’s going to be Apple’s big focus when the new device is announced."
Whilst we should stress the lack of photographic evidence and unabashed openness with which this claimed iPad 3 hands-on is being banded around would suggest you take it with a hefty pinch of salt, the report added that Apple's other major update for the third-gen iPad would be the device's snapper.
Having introduced a camera to the iPad 2 follow a first-generation photographic omission Apple looks set to upgrade the device's rear-mounted camera to an iPhone 4S esque model minus the LED flash.
