With the second Call of Duty: Black Ops DLC set to launch next Tuesday, May 3rd, developer Treyarch has released a new video teaser revealing the inclusion of a number of famous horror characters in the new Zombie mode.

The zombie level set to land within the Escalation Map pack that is to hit Xbox Live next week and PlayStation and PC formats later in the year, is to be dubbed ‘Call of the Dead’ and will allow gamers to pit themselves against the godfather of zombie movies, George A. Romero.

Whilst Romero plays himself as a sort of mutated super zombie, gamers will be tasked with slaying the zombie hoards as one of four other Hollywood horror legends that include Sarah Michelle Geller (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Danny Trejo (Machete), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead, and Robert Englund who played Freddie Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street.

"This is Treyarch's tribute to the legendary George Romero, who truly defined the zombie genre and whose incredible work has been such an inspiration to our team," said Call of Duty: Black Ops director Dave Anthony.

Following Anthony’s words, the title’s publisher Activision announced: "Set in a mysterious, ice-covered, remote Siberian island and inspired by legendary writer and director George A. Romero, a group of four fearless explorers fight for their lives amidst an army of bloodthirsty Soviet zombies."

Joining the Call of the Dead Zombie map in the Escalation DLC will be four regular multiplayer maps and missions to be entitled ‘Seize the Zoo’, ‘Take the Hotel’, ‘Secure the Convoy’ and ‘Raid the Stockpile’.
