Casio does it again with a new G-Shock Gravitymaster that can correct itself and detect shocks and magnetic fields
The aviation-inspired GWR-B3000 combines a new self-correcting movement with solar power, Bluetooth connectivity and G-Shock’s familiar appetite for punishment
G-Shock has launched a new generation of its aviation-focused Gravitymaster watch, with a design inspired by supersonic aircraft and a movement that can react automatically to shocks and strong magnetic fields.
The Gravitymaster GWR-B3000 series sits within G-Shock’s professional Master of G collection and will be offered in three versions: the GWR-B3000-1A, GWR-B3000A-2A and GWR-B3000B-8A.
The watch uses the Tough MVT.2 analogue movement, which introduces shock detection alongside automatic hand-position correction to detect a heavy impact and immediately realign its hands if necessary.
The movement can also detect strong magnetic fields, and when one is encountered, the hands temporarily stop to prevent their reference positions from shifting.
They return to the correct position and resume operation once the magnetic field is no longer present.
These protections are joined by Tough Solar charging, Multi Band 6 radio-controlled timekeeping and Bluetooth connectivity.
Designed to withstand all kinds of punishment
Casio has given the GWR-B3000 a dual hollow case structure designed to protect it against impacts, vibration and centrifugal force, the three elements covered by the company’s Triple G Resist standard.

The brand says the carbon-reinforced central case is suspended inside an outer structure and supported at four separate points.
Metal-injection-moulded stainless-steel components and resin buffers provide additional protection, while the shock absorbers have deliberately been left visible as part of the watch’s industrial design.
Topology optimisation was used to simulate the effects of drops, vibration and centrifugal force on the individual components, Casio adds.
The resulting structure is intended to provide the necessary protection without making the watch excessively heavy.
That is relative, of course, as the watch remains a substantial G-Shock with a case that measures 56.7 x 47.3 x 14.1mm, although its use of carbon and bio-based resin keeps the weight to 102g.
The analogue dial has a micro-textured surface intended to reduce reflections and improve contrast in bright conditions. It is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating.
Other specifications include 200 metres of water resistance, a high-brightness LED, dual-time display, direct access to UTC, a stopwatch, countdown timer and daily alarm. The watches are manufactured in Japan.
The G Shock Gravitymaster GWR-B3000 series is available through Casio UK now, priced from £750, with delivery expected in four to six weeks.
European availability begins in August from €799, while Australian prices start at AU$1,499. Casio says US availability has also begun, with pricing from $880.
