Is Tosh ready for the tablet fight?
Toshiba Thrive tablet on sale July 10
Toshiba is set to join the likes of the iPad 2 and the BlackBerry PlayBook with its 10.1-inch Thrive tablet offering which is set to go on sale in the US from July.
The tablet will run on Android Honeycomb 3.1 and pack a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, HDMI support, a 10.1-inch 1280x800 panel and a 5 megapixel camera round the back.
Resolution+ video enhancement will allow for the upscaling of standard definition videos to that of near HD colour and contrast ratios, while the upcoming device’s party piece comes in the form of its removable battery, a feature that few of the current breed of portable tablets boast.
Our US counterparts will get their hands on the Thrive tablet first, with pricing ranging from $429 (£260) for an 8GB model, to $579 (£355) for a 32GB model.
There's no details on UK pricing or a release date, but we hope that we'll see the Thrive before the end of 2011.
