Check into the TV shows you're watching and earn free stuff. It's the app that rewards you for being a couch potato
iPhone App News: Viggle rewards you for watching TV
Swimming against the tide of incentive-based fitness apps, is one that could make you feel a little better for being a lazy, couch potato and will reward you for doing so.
The Viggle app for iPhone and iPad allows you to accumulate points for watching television and if you rack-up enough then you'll get free gift vouchers for places like Buger King, Starbucks and iTunes.
All you need to do when you place your rear end on the sofa for the is let your iDevice listen in to what your watching (it'll be able to recognise) and it'll give you two points a minute. Once you're up to 7,500 points the free stuff starts flowing.
It'll take you about three weeks of watching TV every night to earn one voucher, although the app will award bonus points for checking into certain shows like American Idol.
“Viggle is the first loyalty program for TV,” said Viggle president Chris Stephenson “We’re basically allowing people to get rewards for doing something they’re doing already and that they love to do.”
The app looks like a US-only release at the moment, yet we can only assume it'll be a matter of time before it lands on UK shores.
