Is this the best camera app on the iPhone?
iPhone app news: Joby launches stop motion app
Joby, the maker of the ultra-flexible GorillaPod tripod, has today launched a stop motion camera app that allows you to create animations on your iPhone 4 handset.
The Frame X Frame app which is free to download from the App Store will stitch together up to 2,000 photos taken at differing intervals from one-per-second up to one every 24 hours. There's also a host of different frame rates for you to play with.
So if you want to create your own Wallace and Gromit, you can move your characters slightly every few seconds, or you can take a picture of, say the different stages of the moon every night.
The app will automatically stitch all of the photos together leaving you with your very own video animation that you're then able to share through all of the usual means; Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.
As well as the stop motion functionality there's also a bunch of other features which boost the iPhone's camera, such as Time Lapse, Self-Timer, 3 Shot Burst and Press Anywhere. It's a very impressive package.
Of course, Joby wants you to use the GorillaMobile tripod for iPhone to ensure a steady hand on all of your creations, which is probably why this really cool app is free of charge.
Here's a clip of the Frame X Frame app in action. Visit the Joby website to enter a stop motion animation competition for the chance to win a Canon 7D.
