Apple Magic Trackpad gets official nod

FCC approval for new proddable Mac accessory

Bluetooth-packing gadget due to land imminently after US officials give it green light.

The much-hyped Apple Magic Trackpad has taken a step closer to reality today, with officials at the FCC giving the device the thumbs up.

Billed as a touch panel to be used with Macs, a basic image of the device, along with detailed descriptions, have been handed to the FCC. The file says the Magic Trackpad uses Bluetooth but not Wi-Fi and goes under the model number A1339, the same digits that appeared on a leaked image last month.
