Quick summary

The reTerminal Sticky is an e-paper AI device that will let you leave notes around the home.

There's also an app for remote messaging, while the Sticky offers open source tools allowing for plenty of customisation.

You're probably sick of the family WhatsApp group, shared calendar or that noticeboard in the kitchen, which is why this thoroughly modern but surprisingly analogue solution from reTerminal might be of interest.

It takes the form of a 4-inch e-paper screen that can be magnetically stuck to things like fridges, letting you leave an e-paper note without blowing up family member's phones. Going for a run? Given the dog her medicine? Posted Grandma's card? Just leave it on the Sticky.

Using e-paper means that this device doesn't beam out like a tablet or smart display, instead offering that lovely paper-like surface with a long battery life. Once set, your note is in place so the rest of your family knows what's happening.

But how you get that note onto the devices is really interesting: you can press a button and talk to it, with AI interpreting what you say to display that on the screen. That means you say what you want (English and Chinese are supported) and that then appears on your Sticky.

Or there's an app for your phone or desktop so you can leave remote messages, which might be a nice way to let someone know you're thinking about them, or just to remind the kids to empty the dishwasher before you get home.

The in-built magnet makes it ideal for sticking to the fridge, but it can be mounted on the wall where it's most likely to be spotted, so it integrates with the rest of your household. It can be a clock, it can show the weather - it's a really versatile device.

But getting a little more techy, it supports open source tools, so it can be linked to Home Assistant. If you have any real smart home fans in your life, they'll know all about Home Assistant.

That means you can basically use the reTerminal Sticky as a display to do whatever you want in your smart home, from controlling devices to showing your train times and a whole lot more.

The reTerminal Sticky is available for $49.99 on preorder, with deliveries to the US, China or the EU. For those in the UK, you'll have to order from the Chinese warehouse.
