Apple still leading the charge on overall app front
Android free apps overtakes iPhone free apps
Android has overtaken Apple in the free apps department after research showed that the Android Market now boasts 134,342 compared to the Apple App Store's 121,845.
The findings come courtesy of a report compiled by analytics research company Distimo who also revealed that while Android may have a bigger free app stash, it is still some way behind the iPhone and the Apple Store in terms of overall apps available.
Distimo does however expect the Android Market to swell in size becoming the largest store in around five months time.
Interestingly for iPad users, apps have grown to 75,755 applications in the past month, with 34,120 now optimized for the iPad only.
