Google has released Android 2.3 Gingerbread to developers for the first time.

Game development is the key message from the big G – “taking gaming to the next level”, says the launch video.

New sensor support, wider video compatibility and performance tweaks will also bring smoother, faster, better gaming experiences, according to the company.

The much anticipated update to Android 2.2 FroYo will ship with the Samsung Nexus S phone, on pre-order now.
