QUICK SUMMARY

Seiko has partnered with Honda to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Motocompo folding scooter.

Limited to 8,000 pieces, the Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition has a bright yellow dial with bold Honda logos on the front and caseback.

Seiko has expanded its 5 Sports watch line-up with the new Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition. Created in partnership with Honda, the timepiece celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Honda Motocompo, and it does it in bright yellow style.

Launched in 1981, the Honda Motocompo was the smallest folding scooter or ‘trunk bike’ of its time. Despite originally launching as just a factory add-on and being discontinued in 1983, the Motocompo became popular for its retro design and small size which allowed it to fit into a car trunk.

Now, Seiko and Honda are bringing it back in the form of a watch. The new Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition pays homage to the Motocompo but where you’ll really see that celebration is via the caseback.

But back to the front of the Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition which is hard to miss. Sitting in a 36mm stainless steel case, this watch has a bright yellow dial with black lines and a grey strip running through the middle. The Honda logo sits at nine o’clock while a day/date window sits at three.

‘Automatic’ is printed just above six o’clock in Honda’s signature font. Black numerals and indices loop around the dial which are coated in Lumibrite to enhance its visibility in low light. It’s definitely not a dial you’ll forget anytime soon.

Additional engravings appear on the crown which says ‘TURN’ and the nylon strap which says ‘Insertion Point’.

Limited to just 8,000 pieces worldwide, the Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition is available to pre-order for £340 at Seiko.
