Eve Systems has launched a new motor option for its Eve MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit, making it compatible with an even wider range of existing roller blinds, including IKEA's hugely popular Fridans blackout blinds.
Designed for slimmer roller blind tubes, the new motor works with tube diameters between 25-30mm and blinds with a minimum width of 22 inches. Using the included adapter set, it allows homeowners to transform their existing blinds into smart blinds rather than replacing them entirely. Like the original version, the new motor supports Matter, making it easy to integrate into a wide range of smart home ecosystems.
The new version is available now for $169.95 from Eve, Amazon and selected retailers, whilst the existing model for larger tube diameters remains on sale for $219.95.
IKEA's Fridans blackout blinds are among the most common budget-friendly blinds found in homes around the world, yet IKEA still doesn't offer a dedicated smart version. The new MotionBlinds motor gives existing Fridans owners an easy way to add schedules, automations, voice control and app control without having to replace the blinds they already own.
In terms of installation, the kit includes mounting brackets, covers and multiple adapters designed to fit a wide range of roller blind brands, and setup is as simple as scanning a Matter QR code and completing the process in the Eve app. Users can configure upper, lower and favourite positions directly through the app or on the device itself.
The Eve app also includes Adaptive Shading, which automatically adjusts blinds based on the sun's position throughout the day to help reduce overheating and improve comfort indoors. Meanwhile, the rechargeable battery charges via USB-C and can last up to a year on a single charge, making it a very low-maintenance smart home upgrade.
