Classic smut peddler Playboy has launched its iPad optimised website with iPlayboy allowing users to access the full archive of adult magazines for $8 (£4.94) per month.
With Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner repeatedly announcing via Twitter in recent months that the entire Playboy collection would be hitting Apple’s tablet in a “complete and uncensored” form, many assumed that the archive of scantily clad ladies and attention grabbing articles would be made available via an iOS app.
Steve Jobs’ strict no nudity rules for the iOS App Store put an end to such speculation, however, with Playboy eventually opting for a special iPad optimised version of its website instead and ensuring that all aspects of the publication’s infamous images can be shown in all their glory.
As well as the standard $8 per month subscription offering, wannabe users of the iPlayboy service are able to sign up for a one year subscription for $60 (£37) or a two year all-access deal priced at $100 (£61.75). For these fees users will be granted access to 682 issues of Playboy spanning 57 years of iconic adult content.
