The much mooted Motorola Xoom 2 tablet has leaked online with a Carphone Warehouse Christmas catalogue outed the device's 8.2-inch form factor and sub £400 price tag
Motorola's heavily rumoured but currently unconfirmed second-generation tablet the Motorola Xoom 2 has leaked online with retailer Carphone Warehouse outing the Android device via its upcoming Christmas catalogue.
Making its latest in a rapidly growing list of premature appearances, Motorola’s Xoom follow on looks set to land prior to the upcoming Christmas shopping rush with the iPad 2 rival to host an all new and substantially smaller form factor.
Despite being widely considered as one of the leading iPad 2 challengers, Motorola revealed last week that its fledgling tablet had been less than well received by the public with just 100,000 of the 10.1-inch slates shipping in the third quarter of 2011, considerably less than the 17 million iPads sold by Apple during the same period.
Doing away with the 10.1-inch display from the original Motorola has decided to downscale for its second attempt at tablet supremacy with the Motorola Xoom to set to boast an 8.2-inch touchscreen display alongside 16GB of internal storage and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Previous rumours had suggested the Xoom 2 would land in a variety of forms with 32GB and 64GB storage capacities to be offered alongside the option of 3G connectivity. The Motorola tablet leaked by Carphone Warehouse, however, has forgone these expected options.
Another shock omission is the latest version of Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Listed as playing host to Android Honeycomb version 3.2, it is expected any Xoome 2 device would be fast tracked for an ICS update.
Motorola Xoom 2 Price
As well as offering a tantalising first look at the second-gen Moto tablet, the leaked Carphone Warehouse catalogue, intended for customers in Ireland, has outed the Motorla Xoom 2 price and pre-Christmas release.
Set to launch in the coming weeks the Motorola Xoom 2 price has been set at €399.90 (£342).
