New Apple iPad 3 rumours suggest that Apple is to officially unveiled the iPad 2 replacement on March 7th ahead of an imminent in-store release
The Apple iPad 3 rumours continue to flow with latest reports suggesting the next-generation tablet will land in a matter of weeks as a March 7th announcement is tipped ahead of an imminent iPad 3 release date.
The latest reports, which come courtesy of Apple blog iMore, have claimed Apple will take to San Francisco's Yerba Buena Centre, the company's announcement venue of choice, in a little over three weeks time with the third-generation device to hit shelves in around a month.
Citing “sources who have been reliable in the past,” iMore has declared “Apple currently plans to hold their iPad 3 announcement on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Along with the 2048×1536 Retina display, the iPad 3 will feature a quad-core Apple A6 system-on-a-chip, and possibly 4G LTE networking.”
iMore’s claims come just days after All Things D reported "Sources say the company has chosen the first week in March to début the successor to the iPad 2 and will do so at one of its trademark special events.”
Tipped for inclusion on the second-generation Apple tablet, the iPad 3 is expected to play host to a higher resolution screen, similar to the Retina display offering found on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
"The new display is capable of greater resolution than the current iPad, with more pixels on its screen than some high- definition televisions," an unnamed insider source announced recently. "The pixels are small enough to make the images look like printed material. Videos begin playing almost instantly because of the additional graphics processing."
Elsewhere recent iPad 3 rumours have suggested the iPad 2 replacement will feature a form factor 1mm thicker than its predecessor with the increased internal space to be filled with the new display, an A6 quad-core CPU and improved optics for the rear-mounted camera.
