iPad 2 online orders to face three week delivery wait
iPad 2 pre-orders live with three week shipping delay
Online pre-orders for the Apple iPad 2 have gone live in the UK with consumers look to get hold of the second-gen tablet to face a three week wait.
Set to hit stores across the UK and 25 other countries at 5pm today, the Apple iPad 2 is to launch featuring both front and rear mounted cameras, the new A5 dual-core processor and a slimmer, lighter form factor than the original model.
With queues starting outside Apple’s flagship Regent Street store at 7:30am yesterday morning, those eager to forgo the predicted wait facing online orders will see their efforts rewarded as they pick up their new iDevice three week’s ahead of online buyers.
As well as adding a bevy of new hardware features Apple has dropped the price of the iPad 2 compared to its predecessor with the base model 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 available for a surprisingly reasonable £399. Prices continue all the way up to a hefty £659 for the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G edition.
Wannabe iPad 2 owners looking for more storage whilst sticking to the Wi-Fi only connection option will be able to pick up the 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi models for £479 and £559 respectively. On the 3G front the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G iPad 2’s will be priced at £499 and £579 each.
