HTC tablet trademarks Scribe title ahead of CES unveiling?

Will the HTC Scribe touch down at CES 2011?

HTC’s much awaited traipse into the land of tablet devices looks closer than ever as the Taiwanese tech giant is granted a trademark to name the upcoming product the HTC Scribe.

Filled on December 26th the patent application secures the Scribe moniker for a “handheld wireless device, namely a tablet computer” and hints towards the imminent arrival of the first tablet from the world’s largest producer of Android powered mobile devices.

Whilst details of the expected HTC tablet, asides from its newly crowned name, remain secret following the patent filing, it is widely believed that the device will launch running Google’s upcoming Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS and thus sport a high-resolution display and dual-core processor.

Expected to be lining up for a CES 2011 or Mobile World Congress unveiling alongside updates to the company’s fleet of high-end smartphones, the HTC tablet looks set to hit UK stores around March or April with, if past launches are a guide, a very competitive price tag.

What features would the mooted HTC tablet need to sport in order to topple the Apple iPad and the expected iPad 2? Share your thoughts via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds and stay tuned to T3.com and the T3 CES 2011 site for all the latest on the fleet of upcoming tablets.
