If Nothing made turntables... I'd be one of the first in the queue
This Nothing-branded record player might just be a concept for now, but it's an amazing one
Quick Summary
This unofficial Nothing turntable concept nails the brand's transparent aesthetic. But it's only a design at this stage.
Designed by Sungwoo Choi, this is packed with clever ideas that make vinyl feel every bit as modern as wireless earbuds.
Nothing has built a reputation on making everyday tech look genuinely exciting. Transparent earbuds, phones with glowing Glyph lights and a design language that's instantly recognisable have helped the company stand out in a world of lookalike gadgets.
Now fans have started imagining where the brand could go next. One of the most convincing concepts yet comes from industrial design student Sungwoo Choi, who asked a simple question: what if Nothing made a turntable? The answer is the beautifully realised Turntable (1), and honestly, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Choi has thought carefully about how Nothing's design philosophy could translate into an analogue music player. The result feels like something that could genuinely sit alongside the Phone (4b) and Ear (3a) without looking out of place.
The concept keeps the company's signature mix of exposed elements, white finishes and transparent materials, while introducing plenty of practical touches that make it feel more than just a pretty render.
The tonearm, platter and controls are all clearly defined, giving the mechanical parts of the player room to shine. There's even a built-in dot matrix display, integrated speakers and what appears to be a Glyph-inspired lighting interface. That adds a modern layer of interaction without distracting from the ritual of playing records.
Of course, this remains an unofficial concept, with no indication that Nothing has plans to enter the world of hi-fi. But if the overwhelmingly enthusiastic reaction from the Nothing community is anything to go by, there's certainly an audience waiting. Comments range from "Shut up and take my money" to requests for additional visualisers and equaliser features.
Vinyl has enjoyed a huge resurgence over the past decade, yet many turntables still lean heavily into retro styling. Nothing's minimalist, transparent approach could offer something genuinely fresh in a market that doesn't often see bold industrial design.

Whether it ever becomes reality is another matter entirely. But if this is what a modern Nothing turntable could look like, I'd happily clear a space on my hi-fi rack today.
