Why you can trust T3
When you look to add one of the best watch winders on the market to your nightstand, it wont take long for you to find Wolf. The brand enjoys a stranglehold on the modern market, with its models often cited as the best options across different price points.
I've used a lot of the different products the brand offers, including the Wolf Cub and the Wolf Rocket. That gives me a solid understanding of the wider context of the brand, and how its products sit in the market.
Today, I've got the Wolf Earth watch winder on test. That's a classy looking model, celebrating 190 years of the brand's existence. Let's take a closer look and see if it's a worthy protector of your best watches.
Wolf Earth Single Watch Winder review: Price and Availability
The Wolf Earth Single watch winder retails for £999 / €1,025 / US$1,195 / AU$1,575.
You can buy the model direct from the brand's website, as well as from retailers like Harrods and John Lewis.
The model is available in three colours: Midnight Blue (pictured), Olive and Coffee.
Wolf Earth Single Watch Winder review: Design and Features
This model in particular is designed to celebrate 190 years of the brand's existence. That sees it employ a unique patterned fabric inside, crafted from recycled jacquard silk. The outer casing is covered in apple leather – meaning it's good for vegans, too.
The overall fit and finish here is excellent. You really wouldn't expect anything less from the brand, but it still deserves talking about – in fact, there's something about this particular model which feels a cut above the rest.
This watch winder also features something you wont find in many other places – an accompanying app. That allows users to set things like the turns per day and the direction of the rotation.
It's a fairly primitive app, which doesn't quite fit with the luxurious appearance of the winder overall. Still, it's a nice thing to have, and you'd hope that it can only get better over time.
Wolf Earth Single Watch Winder review: Performance
There's little to really say about the performance of a watch winder as there really is very little to adjust. Still, everything here is exactly as you'd hope.
Operation is totally silent, meaning you can place this in the same room you plan to sleep in without fear of it keeping you up. The wealth of features available to set are really a one-time thing – you'll add things like power reserve at the start and shouldn't need to make other adjustments over time.
All of that means the actual interaction with the device is quite low. Still, that's no bad thing – this model sits in a lovely halfway house between a device that has lots of control, and one which is pretty hands off.
Wolf Earth Single Watch Winder review: Verdict
If you've got the cash to splash on a neat watch winder, this Wolf Earth model is worth a look. The styling is classy, there's a great amount of storage, and the app is a neat point of difference from others on the market.
Yes, it's not exactly the most rounded app ever, but it does the job, and the overall fit and finish is really neat. Whether that's worth the extra cash for you will be a personal decision, but it's certainly not a bad place to spend your cash.
Wolf Earth Single Watch Winder review: Also Consider
The Wolf Cub watch winder is an obvious choice if the app functionality and additional storage aren't of interest to you. It's a solid winder and comes in about one-third of the price of the model were testing here.
For similar cash, you could also opt for the Barrington 6 watch winder. It has a more modern aesthetic, but it also gives you space to keep a whole collection wound at once.
