Oodie Weighted Blanket review: cosy comfort that gives the perfect crushing feeling
The Oodie Weighted Blanket might be the cosiest blanket I’ve ever tried
The Oodie Weighted Blanket might be the best weighted blanket I’ve tried. The soft snuggly material feels great on the skin, and the glass beads are distributed evenly to add the perfect amount of weight. It might be a little intense for some to sleep under, but for a quick nap or cuddle, the Oodie Weighted Blanket is my go-to.

Why you can trust T3
If you know anything about me, you’ll know I love a blanket. Even during the hot summer months, you’ll still find me snuggling underneath a blanket in the evening for extra warmth. But I’ve found it hard to get on board with the best weighted blankets as while they give a soothing crushing feeling, I don’t love some of the materials that they come in, as it doesn’t feel as nice on the skin as a regular blanket.
So, when I found out that Oodie made its own weighted blanket, I knew I had to try it. I have one of Oodie’s wearable hoodie blankets and I rarely take it off during the winter, so a weighted blanket made from similar material sounded amazing to me. I tried the Oodie Weighted Blanket to see if it lived up to expectations – spoiler, it did.
Oodie Weighted Blanket review: price and availability
The Oodie Weighted Blanket is £89 / $129 and available to buy at Oodie. While this might sound like a high price, it’s a pretty average cost compared to other weighted blanket brands. One of the best things about the Oodie Weighted Blanket is that the different weights don’t change the price of the blanket. Some brands will up the price when it’s a heavier weight, but Oodie doesn't, which is a big bonus.
Oodie Weighted Blanket review: unboxing
The Oodie Weighted Blanket arrived in a beige tote bag. When you buy the Oodie Weighted Blanket, you have three weights to choose from: 4.5kg, 6.8kg, 9kg. Oodie recommends choosing a weight that’s around 10% of your body weight, so the 4.5kg works if you weigh between 25-49kg whereas the 6.8kg blanket is best for 50kg-94kg body weight and for those over 95kg, the 9kg blanket works the best – see how heavy should a weighted blanket be? for more details.
For this review, I tested the 6.8kg version of the Oodie Weighted Blanket in a light grey colour, although other neutral and bright colour options are available.
Oodie Weighted Blanket review: design and features
The Oodie Weighted Blanket measures 198cm x 121cm, giving it a generous size for one or more people to get under. Made from minky plush fabric, the Oodie Weighted Blanket feels similar to velvet and holds on to heat to keep you warmer for longer. For the weight, the Oodie Weighted Blanket is made up of eco-friendly glass beads. The blanket is separated into square grids, each of which contains a scattering of glass beads for even weight distribution.
A premium weighted blanket, the Oodie Weighted Blanket is designed to reduce stress and anxiety and improve sleep quality. The weight works to add deep pressure stimulation to the bed, which can help you relax. It’s recommended for light sleepers and those who want to improve their sleep, and can be seen as a replacement for the best duvet.
Oodie Weighted Blanket review: performance
While it’s suggested to use the Oodie Weighted Blanket for sleep, I find it quite difficult to sleep under a weighted blanket, so I mainly tried the Oodie Weighted Blanket during naps and while relaxing on the sofa. I really enjoyed the feeling of having something weighted on me, and the 6.8kg Oodie Weighted Blanket was the perfect weight for my body. It wasn’t too heavy that I couldn’t move under it but it was heavy enough that it needed some strength to get it on and off of me.
My favourite part of the Oodie Weighted Blanket was its cosy material. It’s incredibly soft and silky, and the material also made it much easier to hold and move. Other weighted blankets I’ve tried have had a slippery external material that made it harder to grab and shift, so I appreciated the material used in the Oodie Weighted Blanket.
The amount of weight was extremely relaxing and felt very evenly distributed. The glass beads were very small, so while you can feel them, you have to really press down on each square to feel them properly. Glass beads are my favourite type of weighted blanket filling – see which weighted blanket filling should I choose? for our advice on what to pick – and the glass beads used in the Oodie Weighted Blanket didn’t disappoint. One grid didn’t feel bigger or smaller than the other, so it felt very consistent across the board… or blanket.
The only negative I have is that the Oodie Weighted Blanket can get quite hot. While the Oodie website states that the Oodie Weighted Blanket retains heat – proving that it’s doing its job correctly – it felt a bit too hot at times, so if you tend to overheat when you sleep, you might not want to use it for that. But for naps and cuddling underneath it, the Oodie Weighted Blanket added just the right amount of heat and weight.
Oodie Weighted Blanket review: verdict
As a big Oodie fan, the Oodie Weighted Blanket didn’t disappoint and has become my go-to blanket for a quick nap or relaxing on the sofa. It’s got a generous weight to it, and coupled with the soft material, it’s so comfortable and cosy to lie under. I found it to be immensely relaxing to have on and be wrapped in, so I’d have to say the soothing effects do work. While it might be too hot for some, the Oodie Weighted Blanket gets top points for me.
Oodie Weighted Blanket review: alternatives to consider
An alternative to the Oodie Weighted Blanket is the Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket. Both brands have similar credentials and are extremely reliable and premium. They also both use glass beads in their blankets, although the Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket is more expensive at £169 and is only available in the UK.
Another good alternative is the Gravity Weighted Blanket. It has a similar cosy material to the Oodie Weighted Blanket and also holds onto heat well for extra warmth. It’s another more expensive option, though, at $249.99 for the single size and $299.99 for the king/queen size, and is only available in the US.
