As a home office worker, back pain is something I’m all too familiar with from sitting all day, so when FlexiSpot asked if I wanted to review the E7 Pro Standing Desk, I jumped at the chance.
Although standing desks aren’t as popular in the UK as they are in Scandinavian countries, where apparently 90% of workers use standing desks, they’re on the rise post-pandemic. Throw in the fact that more of us are also suffering from back pain, and they’ll soon be soaring.
I was pleasantly surprised by what I received from FlexiSpot; not because I thought that the desk wasn’t going to be of high standard, but having looked at standing desks in the past, I’ve struggled to find one that looks as nice as a traditional desk.
The E7 Pro, however, has an aesthetically pleasing, minimalistic design that’s also robust and incredibly easy to use, making it a strong contender for anyone looking to upgrade their home office without compromising on style or comfort.
FlexiSpot E7 Pro Standing Desk Review: Price and availability
Prices for the E7 Pro range from £529.98 up to £619.98, depending on what colour/material you choose for your desktop. There are two frame colours to pick from – white and black – and then 11 different desktop colours (including solid wood). The variety is truly fantastic and allows you to pick something that will fit nicely into your home aesthetic.
For this review, I went for the white frame and white desktop measuring 120x80cm, which came to £549.98. You can get larger desktops and even curved-style desktops; however, prices will vary. I was very impressed with the design of my desk, it was minimalistic, sturdy and was a great addition to my home office.
FlexiSpot E7 Pro Standing Desk Review: set up
The E7 Pro arrives in three boxes, one of which is pretty heavy. I just about managed to drag it in myself, but if there’d been some help on hand, I would have definitely been asking for it.

I have a confession: I didn’t have a great deal of involvement in the setup of the E7 Pro. DIY tasks are not my strong suit, but they are (thankfully) my partner's, so he cracked on whilst I carefully observed and set a timer to see how long it would take him.
It came with all the tools needed and the instructions – from what I saw of them – looked easy enough to follow, with images and written instructions.
On the FlexiSpot website, it claims the E7 Pro takes just 15 minutes to set up. However, it took my partner – who’s a tradesman and very handy with this sort of thing – around 45 minutes. So I think FlexiSpot may have been a little optimistic with their set-up estimate.
Also, a little tip: make sure you set up the desk where you intend to have it. We made the mistake of making it in our living room and then had to lug it up the stairs to the study, and it was heavy.
FlexiSpot E7 Pro Standing Desk Review: design and build
The E7 Pro is an extremely sturdy standing desk, which explains its hefty weight. It has a 30% higher load limit than its predecessor – the E7 – and has a maximum capacity of 160kg. That’s probably the largest weight capacity of any standing desk we’ve reviewed. If you have lots of stuff to plonk on top, you know it’ll be fine on the E7 Pro.
Its thick T-shape legs are made from solid steel, which has an electrostatic spray coating to make them silky smooth and corrosion-resistant, while the desktop that I was testing was crafted from particle board. It’s also available in bamboo, rubberwood, plywood and medium-density fibreboard.
The lifting monitor is touchscreen and very simple and intuitive to use. It has two arrow buttons – up and down – that control the desk height. You just hold your finger over either button, and the desk glides smoothly and quietly to your desired position.
You can also set customised height positions, so that you can seamlessly switch between sitting and standing. Plus, there's even a hidden USB port on the side of the monitor, which came in handy for charging my phone.
Regarding the E7 Pro’s aesthetics, I couldn’t have been happier. This standing desk is minimalist, elegant and fits into my study beautifully. The fact that you can customise it so much, in regards to colour, frame, desktop, size and even shape, it’s hard not to be happy with how it looks.
FlexiSpot E7 Pro Standing Desk Review: using the E7 Pro
The E7 Pro has arguably been the best addition to my home office set-up. It’s made working from home far more enjoyable, helped keep my back pain at bay, offers plenty of space, is sturdy, goes super high (and low), plus it looks good. Honestly, I don’t know what more you’d want from a standing desk.
Its built-in anti-collision mechanism – which spots obstructions while height-adjustments are being made – was also a really cool feature to have, and not something I’ve seen on other standing desks. However, it became very handy when I’d forgotten to take my finger off the ‘down’ button, and it would stop the desk from knocking into the armrests on my chair.
The desk was impressively easy to use. The motor controls are intuitive and operate seamlessly, and while the desk isn’t completely silent when adjusting, the gentle hum is barely noticeable.
FlexiSpot E7 Pro Standing Desk Review: verdict
If you’re looking for a standing desk for your home office, I’d recommend the E7 Pro without hesitation. I think what sets it apart from others on the market is its robust construction, aesthetically pleasing design, easy operation, and safety features. Not forgetting, FlexiSpot offers the desk in a wide variety of materials, colours, etc.
Those who aren’t the best at DIY (or aren’t the strongest) will probably need an extra pair of hands for assistance. Although the E7 Pro is mid-priced, if it’s still a little out of your range, then you could always opt for the E7, which is slightly cheaper.
It doesn’t come with the anti-collision system, and its weight capacity isn’t quite as high as the Pro's, but it’s still a great alternative if you’re looking to save a little extra money.
