Kinect, the controller-free motion gaming peripheral from Microsoft is nearing its UK launch on November 10th, six days after it hits a US market, with the company having now released a number of cringingly cheesy adverts.
With Microsoft announcing earlier in the week that it would be splashing out a whopping $500 million on marketing for the Kinect gaming peripheral and the recently released Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system, the video advertisements that see bright, smiley gamers enjoying the Kinect setup are presumably just the first in long line of Kinect ads to come.
With separate adverts for Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures, Xbox LIVE with Kinect and a general all-in-one ad, in ad gamers can be seen demonstrating the upcoming release with faux smiles, manicured looks and in large spacious environments, avoiding the cluttered surroundings that have seemingly thwarted Kinect in early demos.
Although the actual Kinect hardware is shown very little, Microsoft has included adults, children and inbetweeners all having a grand ol’ time playing the system that has been criticised by some as nothing more than a novelty.
Microsoft Kinect will cost £129.99 in the UK when it launches in under three weeks. Will you be splashing out on Kinect for your Xbox before this festive period? Let us know via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds.
