The follow up to the hugely popular HTC Desire smartphone, the impressively speced HTC Desire HD officially unveiled last month is to hit UK shelves later this week new reports suggest.

Having scrapped the impressive AMOLED screen that has been hit by stock shortages and availability issues in the original HTC Desire, the Desire HD will sport a 4.3-inch LCD display alongside a beefy 1GHz processor and an 8-megapixel camera that features 720p HD video recording capabilities with dual flash when it launches later this month.
Whilst much speculation has surrounded the exact date the Desire HD will go on sale and with HTC remaining tight-lipped on the subject, a report from Cool Smartphone has claimed that a source has confirmed that internal systems for highstreet mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse has the upcoming HTC handset pegged with an October 10th release date.
Not limiting themselves to a launch date the tipster has also claimed that both Vodafone and T-Mobile will be offering the handset free of charge on £35 per month and £40 per month tariffs respectively.
Although the prospect of the Desire HD launching by the end of the week is a tantalising one, this Sunday's launch prediction should be taken with a pinch of salt as such an innocuous Sabbath launch is unlikely for such a high profile device.
