Nokia Lumia 1520 pictured next to Xperia Z

Images reveal just how big the WP8-powered phablet is

The first pictures revealing exactly how big Nokia’s upcoming phablet is have been published.

The six-inch Lumia 1520 was pictured next to Sony’s – also large – Xperia Z. The Windows Phone 8 handset manages to make its Android-rival look small. The pictures were published by The Verge.

The images also show that Nokia’s currently unannounced handset has virtually no bezel. Its previous handsets have not had massive bezels by any means, but they have been noticable.

According to The Verge, the Lumia 1520 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and have a six-inch 1080p display, 32GB of storage and an SD slot.

No details of its camera were published. However, reports have speculated that it may contain the same camera as the recently released Lumia 925.

Details about the phone broke earlier this year when it was revealed Microsoft was working on an update to WP8 that would support 1080p devices.

According to leaks since then, the update – codenamed GR3 – will bring a rotation lock, improved multitasking and a new driving mode. The driving mode will lock key phone features when paired with a car’s Bluetooth system.

A revamp of the home screen is also rumoured to be planned.
