Apple sure does love a colour – and you can see every colourful device it's ever made, all in the one place
iPhone, iMac, Apple Watch, iPod – they all look at their best when in bright colours
Quick Summary
Apple hasn't been shy in releasing multiple different, bright colour options for its products over the years, and there's a great site celebrating that fact.
The Data Drop has created a virtual museum of all the coloured products Apple has released since the iMac.
Although its products were mostly beige in the 70s and 80s (a colour it called "putty"), Apple has since embraced colour with a passion.
Essentially starting with Sir Jony Ive's crazy ideas to add vibrant hues to iMac cases, the company has since released its products in all manner of colourful themes. Indeed, some of them – such as the most recent Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro – have proved more popular than the standard models.
And the Product Red devices have raised more than $270 million (£201 million) for the fight against AIDS over the last two decades, showing there's more than just an expanded range at stake.
I myself am a sucker for a different colour when it comes to phone and devices upgrades – and I'm looking forward to seeing if Apple does indeed have a scarlet iPhone 18 Pro up its sleeve this year. But until then, it's also worth taking a look back, as seeing the different colours Apple's adopted over the years is a fun and fascinating exercise for lovers of tech design.
Thankfully, Akash Wadhwani and The Data Drop has made it very simple for us to do just that. The site is a cornucopia of intriguing, interactive collections wrapped in gorgeous design – and the latest shows every colour of every Apple device since those infamous iMacs.
Like a virtual museum, it takes us through the history of Apple's most colourful creations, from Mac and iPod to iPhone and Apple Watch. And click on any of the products and you get information on the colour and release date.
It's a great collection – like a Where's Wally (Waldo) for Apple lovers.

And to be fair, it's a beacon of brightness at a time when prices are soaring, stock is shrinking, and tech launches are becoming fewer and farther between.
The only thing we will say though, perhaps it's for the best that Apple ditched that strange baby nappy brown chosen for the second-gen iPod Shuffle. We'd keep it that way.
