We’ve all been there – you’ve got some music on your phone you’re trying to play from your device. But your phone, tablet or laptop just won’t connect to the speaker in front of you – and you’ve no idea why.
That’s where the Bose SoundTouch 300 comes in (£599.95).It’s a lot more than a basic soundbar, as you can play music from all your devices.
The main way you can do this is via Bluetooth, which obviously means the SoundTouch 300 works with a huge number of devices. Should you have an Android phone with NFC, you’ll be able to pair it even more easily because the soundbar includes support for NFC as well. Clever PhaseGuide tech Also makes up for having more speakers by making you believe you’re hearing sounds where there are no extra speakers.
There’s built-in Wi-Fi, meaning you can stream your favourite music using the Bose SoundTouch app – the app is also the way to control all your SoundTouch products. Available for iOS and Android, the app is designed for transferring audio from devices such as a network storage drive. It also offers presets that can be assigned to different sources of great music and other audio.
And, should you subscribe to the world’s most popular streaming service, then you’re also in luck. There’s also support for the seamless Spotify Connect, so you can play music direct from the soundbar.
You can then use your phone as a remote control to play whatever you want. The first time you’ll need to make sure all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, but after that you can play remotely should you wish.
Naturally, the soundbar is designed to help you experience remarkable sound from your TV as well. The soundbar features support for ARC (Audio Return Channel), plus HDMI loop-through and there’s an optical digital audio input, The HDMI ports are v2.0 and support the latest 4K HDCP 2.2 sources meaning that you’ll be getting the very best quality.
So whatever sources you have, you can replicate great audio, meaning band sessions and outdoor concerts will sound phenomenal. Connecting ST300 via HDMI over ARC is the best way to get the most from the soundbar.
QuietPort is the Bose technology that will ensures your sound is kept distortion-free, while using an on board mic, ADAPTiQ technology adapts the system’s sound to the individual layout of your room and adjusts it to the correct listening height as well.
Should you wish, you can also add optional surround speakers or another bass module for even beefier and truer surround sound. The SoundTouch 300 soundbar and surround package is £899.90, while the SoundTouch 300 soundbar and bass module package is £1,199.90 and it’s £1,499.85 for the bass module, surround package and SoundTouch 300 soundbar.
