Windows Mobile 6.5.1 upgrade just around the corner?
Microsoft's next mobile OS could fix a lot of the problems of the current version
With Windows Mobile 6.5 proving to be a disappointing launch on the several handsets it’s available on, we’re finding ourselves looking to the future, anticipating the next firmware upgrade of Windows Mobile 6.5.1.

Apparently Windows Phone modders have seen some builds available recently which are offering more and more changes to the look and feel of the OS, with the pesky ‘X’ from the top right of the screen being lowered to the bottom toolbar. In fact, the whole top toolbar is thinner and has more space for the various icons displaying batter life, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and time.
Instead of using tabs, arrows have been implanted at the top of the programs, making it all more user-friendly in appearance, judging by some of the screengrabs published online.
The Windows Mobile 6.5.1 upgrade is available today via the XDA-developers forums, however tread carefully as these are targeted at devs who know what they’re doing. Still, it’s interesting that Microsoft chose to roll out 6.5 as a minor upgrade to the previous incarnations, rather than implementing some of the new updates that seem to be just around the corner - possibly launching properly as early as January.
