Twitter has not only been cracking down on third-party Twitter apps but also its own stock with the social media service making some big cuts to their Tweetdeck app
Twitter has announced that it will be killing the Tweetdeck app for iPhone, Android and AIR desktop, the social media service has claimed this is due to most of their Tweetdeck users relying on the web version.
In a blog post the company announced that the focus had undeniably shifted towards making the official Twitter app the main focus on mobile devices.
"Over the past few years, we’ve seen a steady trend towards people using TweetDeck on their computers and Twitter on their mobile devices."
"This trend coincides with an increased investment in Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android –– adding photo filters and other editing capabilities, revamping user profiles and enhancing search."
Twitter has admitted that this will essentially leave power users without a dedicated mobile platform but still feels that the focus on web will more than make up for it.
While the apps will still function for now the company has revealed that it will be preparing some outages while they test the old API so it looks as though early adopting is the best bet.
