Nokia N8 UK release delayed again new launch October 8th

Symbian 3 device faces further delays and £480 RRP

Flagship Symbian 3 Nokia N8 faces further delays

The first handset to run the new Symbian 3 operating system, the Nokia N8 looks to have encountered new problems as its expected launch date is once again pushed back with the device now believed to land in October.

Although no official UK release date has been set for the Nokia N8, online retailer Play.com has changed its listing for the upcoming device from an August 26th release to a new launch date of October 8th.

Packing a 12-megapixel camera and AMOLED touchscreen, the Nokia N8’s specs sheet looks like a serious contender for smartphone glory. It is the handset’s new Symbian 3 operation system, however, that will come under the most scrutiny as the untested OS attempts to challenge the likes of Google’s Android.

Originally announced back in April, the growing delays to the N8 are becoming an issue of embarrassment for the Finnish phone manufacturer that is struggling to match the likes of Apple, RIM and HTC in the smartphone sectors.

Play.com is offering the Nokia N8 SIM-free for £420, £60 cheaper than the handset’s hefty £480 recommended retail price. For all the latest on the prolonged launch of the flagship Symbian 3 device sign up to the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds.
