Updated: Apple iPad 2 officially launches with front and rear-facing cameras, a dual core processor, and a slim new design. Get the iPad 2 launch details.
The Apple iPad 2 has appeared online with the second-gen tablet’s release date, specification and pricing leaked just hours ahead of its official unveiling.
Responsible for the outing, Amazon Germany has once again made the slip, posting the upcoming device ahead of its formal announcement. Although having since been taken down, screen shots from the site grabbed by YourAppleDaily.net reveal the pre-emptive posting.
As expected the leak suggests the Apple iPad 2 will maintain its 9.7-inch form factor whilst adding the widely predicted camera, presumably both front and rear facing. Surprisingly, however, the listing claims the mooted iPad 2 will feature Intel’s new Thunderbolt connection, included in the recently updated MacBook Pro update that allows for high-speed file transfers.
Also touted with an improved 1.2GHz processor, we guess not dual-core, the leaked iPad 2 specs come alongside a March 17th release date and a very reasonable €499 (£423) price tag for the 16GB model.
Whilst far from confirmed, the leaked information would fit well with recent reports that the second-gen iPad will hit stores shortly after launch.
