I always say this, but it takes a lot for me to be impressed by a robot vacuum cleaner. Unlike the best cordless vacuums, assembling and testing robot models often leaves me very frustrated, so I tend to go in with very high expectations. However, after seeing the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra in action at a press event a few months ago, I couldn’t stop thinking about it...

So you can imagine how thrilled I was when it arrived in my review pile just a few weeks later. Now that I’ve put it properly to the test, my full verdict is in, and it could just be the best robot vacuum cleaner I've tried out so far.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: price and availability

The Dreame Matrix10 Ultra comes in at £1,399/€1,399/$1,799, making it one of the most premium robot vacuums we’ve ever tested at T3. There’s a lot that justifies that price tag, but first things first – you can pick it up from Dreame’s official store, as well as retailers like Very and B&Q.

Now, with Black Friday right around the corner, there’s some good news. The Matrix10 Ultra is currently down to just £999, which is a great saving for such a high-end model. Take a look below for more information:

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: unboxing and setup

Setting up the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra might sound a bit complicated, but it’s pretty straightforward if you follow the instructions. The included quick start guide is very helpful and lays everything out clearly, and most of the main setup revolves around the base station.

I placed mine against a wall on a flat, hard surface with around 0.5 -metre clearance on either side and 1.5 metres in front. I'd recommend making sure it's placed near a power outlet too, as the cord is only about a metre long.

With the dustbag already installed, I popped in the different mop pads, filled the three-section tank with the cleaning solutions, and topped up the clean water tank. If you want a visual, I shared the setup on my TikTok last week:

Connecting the robot to my phone was just as easy. The quick start guide and Dreamehome app walk you through it step by step, and I just turned the robot on, scanned the QR code in front of its camera and added my Wi-Fi password. It was then ready to start the mapping process.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: mapping

Once powered up, the Matrix10 Ultra ran a rapid LiDAR scan of my kitchen before its first full clean. Using its 360° Laser Distance Sensor and AI-powered visual sensors, it built an initial floor plan in under three minutes.

From there, I could customise the map in the app, including labelling rooms, setting boundaries, merging or splitting areas and adjusting cleaning settings. Compared to models I've previously tested, I didn’t have to do much, especially since the robot automatically detected rugs and other surfaces where mopping wasn’t needed.

One of my favourite things is that the map isn’t static. The Matrix10 Ultra continuously updates it, so if you move furniture, it automatically detects the change and remaps that area.

It’s a small feature, but one that really shows the thoughtfulness behind the design – and why it sits at the premium end of the market.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: design and features

From the images, you can probably tell that the Matrix10 Ultra comes with a large, vertically-oriented base station. This station handles mop storage, mop swapping, water tanks and even self-cleaning. It's also one of the most attractive designs I’ve tested, and I love how it opens up almost like a cupboard.

Arguably the coolest feature is the Multi-Mop technology. The robot can automatically switch between different water-absorbing sponge mop pads designed for specific areas, so each space gets a deeper, tailored clean. The orange pads are for the kitchen, black for bathrooms and blue for living areas – and the Matrix10 Ultra handles all the swapping entirely on its own.

I think it's brilliant as it solves cross-contamination between different areas of your home – one of the biggest challenges with traditional robot vacuums.

On top of that, the Matrix10 Ultra has Dual Omni-Scrub mopping that uses two rotating pads for consistent pressure and deeper scrubbing. It adjusts its water flow automatically based on your floor type and dirt levels, and lifts the mops when transitioning to carpet so your rugs won’t get wet.

Suction power is also seriously impressive at 30,000Pa, which is far higher than most competing models. This is available via Dreame's Vormax suction system, which ensures that even the most stubborn dirt and debris are effectively removed.

The retractable wheels help it climb onto thick rugs and over tall thresholds, whilst the Triple-Wheel AgiLift chassis and ProLeap tech let it glide over door tracks and furniture bases – as well as steps up to 8cm high.

For pet owners or those with long hair, the HyperStream detangling DuoBrush manages hair effectively without it getting tangled around any of the robot's components.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: maintenance

The Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is very easy to maintain, but this is due to its automated settings and the base station. As mentioned, the station handles mop cleaning, drying and storage, plus water refilling, detergent dispensing, and dust collection.

The clean water tank lasted me about two weeks, and I emptied the dirty tank after every run to keep things fresh – just as Dreame recommends.

The first dust bag comes pre-installed in the base station, and you get two spares in the box. Depending on how often you vacuum, those will last you around 3-5 months, so you’re pretty much set for a while.

The included detergents should keep you going too, and whilst Dreame obviously suggests sticking to its own solutions, you could probably use other robot-friendly (low-foam, low-pH) options if you really wanted to. Personally, though, I’ll be sticking with Dreame’s formulas, as the whole multi-tank, mop-switching system is designed around them, and it just feels safer not to mess with that.

Overall, it’s genuinely one of the lowest-maintenance setups I’ve ever used, and you can really feel how little effort it demands from you.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: performance

There’s no denying that the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is the easiest and most effective robot vacuum I’ve ever tested. It pulls together so many clever technologies, and just feels as if it fixes every single robot vacuum cleaner problem that's ever existed. It's so rare to come across a product like this, so it really is special to see.

The base station and Multi-Mop switching system are still the standout features for me. The way it automatically swaps between different mop pads for different rooms is beyond innovative, and massively reduces the risk of dragging germs or grime around the house. This alongside the dual Omni-Scrub mopping system gives you a deep clean that feels more like a proper floor wash, not just a quick wipe.

The 30,000Pa suction picks up everything from fine dust to stubborn debris, as well as handling tricky flooring and thresholds better than most models I’ve tested. The app then ties the whole experience together, providing you with detailed cleaning reports and settings that allow you to stay on top of maintenance without hardly any effort at all.

If raw vacuuming performance is all you care about, there are definitely cheaper models that will do the basics. However, if you want a robot vacuum and mop that delivers top-tier performance with the most advanced automation you can get right now, the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is in a league of its own.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: verdict

The Dreame Matrix10 Ultra is, without question, the most advanced and user-friendly robot vacuum I’ve ever tested. Its combination of cutting-edge technologies creates a level of automation that's just effortless, all pulled together with the impressive Dreamehome app. The only real downsides are the hefty price tag and the surprisingly short power cable, which means you’ll need to be picky about where you place the dock. However, if you want a robot vacuum and mop that pushes the category forward and makes daily cleaning straightforward and trouble-free, the Matrix10 Ultra is in a league entirely of its own.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review: alternative to consider

You really can’t get much better than the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra, but if I had to pick an alternative, it would be the Eufy Omni S2. It’s the upgraded successor to the Omni S1 Pro – another robot vacuum and mop I absolutely love.

I haven’t been able to fully review the new S2 yet because it’s been tricky to get hold of, but on paper it looks incredible. It matches the Matrix10 Ultra’s suction power, and comes with a 12-in-1 UniClean station that sounds very exciting. I’ll update you as soon as I get the chance to properly test it, because comparing these two is going to be very interesting.
