Why you can trust T3 Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

Nanoleaf has built a reputation for creating high-quality smart home gear with a bit of a quirky twist – and its latest release keeps that streak going strong. The Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock arrived just a few months ago, and it's already turning heads in the smart home space.

If you haven’t already guessed from the photos, the Pegboard Desk Dock is kind of like a hybrid smart light desk organiser. It’s one of those things you didn’t know you were missing, until it’s sitting on your desk, lighting up your setup.

Since it’s T3’s Home & Entertainment Month, what better time to put it to the test? I gave it a proper spin, and you'll find all my thoughts below.

Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock review: price and availability

The Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock is available in a 1-pack for £59.99/$59.99, or 2-pack for £109.99/$109.99. The dock is available exclusively in black and can be purchased through Nanoleaf’s official website.

Nanoleaf has also announced it will soon be stocked in Walmart (US) as part of a new retail expansion.

Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock review: design and features

As mentioned, the Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock is essentially a hybrid smart lamp desk accessory holder, making it a perfect fit for any work or gaming setup. One side features clean ambient lighting, whilst the other has a perforated pegboard panel with four adjustable arms – perfect for holding handheld consoles, headphones or controllers. Thanks to its rotating mechanism, you can easily flip between the two modes, depending on your needs or mood.

On the lighting side, you get 32 full-colour LEDs that deliver immersive accent lighting. Users can select from preset scenes, tweak colours from a palette of over 16 million, or even sync lights with their music or screen content.

On the pegboard side, the positionable arms are ideal for displaying gear neatly whilst clearing desk space. It includes an integrated USB hub, featuring 1× USB-A and 2 × USB-C outlets, as well as a USB-C PD input for powering the dock itself. Its 15W charging isn’t groundbreaking, but still quite reasonable for such a multifunctional unit.

In terms of set up, the dock doesn’t require a computer connection to function, but you'll need the Nanoleaf Desktop App to unlock full features. Some advanced features require a Nanoleaf Premium subscription, but the free tier still offers plenty, and I was happy without upgrading.

Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock review: performance

I’ve had a genuinely great time trying out the Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock – and it’s probably one of my favourite smart lighting products of 2025 so far. Nanoleaf’s already high on my list when it comes to smart home gear, and this latest addition just slots right into its ecosystem perfectly.

Setting it up was easy enough, and I’ve been getting loads of use out of it ever since. I actually had two docks on my desk – one flipped to the lighting mode and the other set up as a gear holder – which looked fantastic.

Now, the pegboard side doesn’t come pre-assembled, so you’ll need to pop in the hooks and arms yourself. It’s a quick DIY job, but I was a bit wary at first because the hooks felt a little loose. However, everything stayed put with no issues, just don't expect them to be fully fixed.

Control-wise, there’s a physical button right on the dock to turn the lights on/off or switch through lighting modes. That said, to unlock the full smart features, you’ll need to install the Nanoleaf Desktop App. This means the dock isn't compatible with the mobile app, which was probably my biggest disappointment. However, since this is clearly designed for desk setups, it's not totally unjustified.

Performance-wise, the lighting worked brilliantly and everything synced smoothly. The overall experience felt surprisingly premium, especially for the price. The only slight letdown is that screen mirroring doesn’t work with streaming services like Netflix or Disney+ due to copyright restrictions, but again, that’s not really Nanoleaf’s fault.

Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock review: verdict

The Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock is one of the most unique and fun smart lighting products we’ve seen in 2025. It blends vibrant, customisable lighting with practical storage in a clever, desk-friendly design. Setup is easy, performance is solid, and whilst the lack of mobile app support and limited screen mirroring might be downsides for some, they don’t take away from the overall experience. If you’re after a sleek, multifunctional gadget to level up your workspace or gaming setup, this dock is a standout.

Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock review: alternatives to consider

If the entertainment-syncing feature is your thing, I strongly recommend the Philips Hue Play Bars. You can pop them on your desk or behind your TV, and they sync with whatever you’re watching or gaming on, but you will need a Sync Box for everything to work together.

The Nanoleaf x Umbra Cono Portable Lamp is also worth a look. It’s got a fun, premium design and looks great on a desk, even though it doesn’t offer storage like the Pegboard Dock.
