Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro review: an affordable mattress with clever cooling features
Weeks of testing reveal whether this affordable hybrid mattress is worth it
The Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro Cooling Mattress is a great choice if you’re looking for a hybrid mattress at an affordable price point. It features a supportive yet comfortable sleep surface that works well for a wide range of sleepers, and I was particularly impressed by the motion isolation and temperature regulation. I did find that the removable cover would sometimes bunch up and the memory foam feel won’t suit everyone, but its overall performance and value for money makes it worth it.

Why you can trust T3
We’re currently coming to the end of the second week of T3’s Sleep Month, and this week the spotlight has firmly been on the best mattresses. Alongside our guides on what bed base you should get for your mattress and the best mattress type to buy if you never want to flip it again, we’ve also been testing a few new models, and the latest victim is the Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro Cooling Mattress.
After spending several weeks sleeping on it, I’ve now had enough time to give it a proper test and see how it performs night after night. It’s positioned as a highly affordable hybrid mattress, so the big question is if it will deliver on what it promises – or whether it's another budget option with the quality to match.

Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro review: unboxing and set up
The delivery process was smooth overall, and the mattress arrived fairly quickly after ordering, which can be quite rare. Happy Beds also offers next working day delivery on selected products, so it can sometimes be even quicker depending on what you're buying.
On the day itself, I received a call around 30 minutes before the delivery van arrived, which gave me enough time to prepare. There’s also the option to add mattress recycling when ordering, which I took advantage of and found to be a very easy process.
Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro review: design and features
Interestingly, the Skye Hybrid Pro Cooling Mattress uses an impressive hybrid design for its price point. It features 1,500 pocket springs along with a six-layer structure, designed to balance support and pressure relief, alongside temperature regulation as well.
Get all the latest news, reviews, deals and buying guides on gorgeous tech, home and active products from the T3 experts
Each pocket spring sits inside its own fabric sleeve, allowing them to move independently. This helps the mattress adapt to your body whilst also reducing motion transfer.
One of the standout elements is the Aura+ Graphite foam layer, which is designed specifically to help regulate body temperature. Graphite foam has strong thermal conductivity, meaning it can help pull heat away from your body whilst you sleep.
Alongside the Aura+ Graphite layer, there’s also a memory foam layer that gently contours to your body, as well as a reflex foam layer which provides additional support and bounce-back responsiveness.
The mattress is finished with a removable and machine-washable cover, made from breathable and moisture-wicking fabric. It also features Purotex treatment, which is designed to help reduce allergens and moisture.
Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro review: performance
When it comes to actual sleep performance, my experience with the Skye Hybrid Pro has been very positive overall. It’s definitely one of the more comfortable budget hybrid mattresses I’ve tried, and I found it provided a nice mix of cushioning and support. It does lean towards a memory foam feel, so that’s worth noting if you’re not a fan of a contouring sensation.
As someone who tends to sleep quite warm, I was particularly interested in the cooling features. The Aura+ Graphite foam layer seems to do its job well, helping to disperse heat so the mattress never felt overly warm during the night.
Another pleasant surprise was the motion isolation. As the pocket springs and foam layers absorb movement quite effectively, you barely notice when the other person in the bed shifts position. If you’re a light sleeper or share a bed with a restless partner, this is a huge advantage
I also really liked the removable cover, which is something we’re seeing more frequently with modern mattresses. You don't really know what you're missing out on if you don't have it, but being able to remove the cover and wash it properly makes it much easier to keep your mattress clean over time. It’s especially useful if you have furry friends that like to sneak onto the bed – your dog, that is… not your partner.
That said, as the cover is designed to be easily removable, it can sometimes be tricky to keep the surface perfectly smooth. Even when I carefully adjusted it to sit flat, it occasionally bunched up slightly again. It’s not a major issue once you have bedding on top, but it did take a little patience getting used to it.
Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro review: verdict
The Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro Cooling Mattress is a great choice if you’re looking for a hybrid mattress at an affordable price point. It features a supportive yet comfortable sleep surface that works well for a wide range of sleepers, and I was particularly impressed by the motion isolation and temperature regulation. I did find that the removable cover would sometimes bunch up and the memory foam feel won’t suit everyone, but its overall performance and value for money makes it worth it.
Happy Beds Skye Hybrid Pro review: alternatives to consider
If you’re looking for something similar, the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is a strong alternative and one I’ve also reviewed recently. In terms of overall comfort and support, the two feel fairly comparable, and the DreamCloud also sits at a similar price point.
Another option worth considering is the Emma Hybrid ThermoSync Mattress, which currently holds the best cooling mattress title in our buying guide. It’s also slightly softer overall, making it a good alternative if you prefer something less firm than the Skye Hybrid Pro.
