Despite the success of the iPhone 5 it's hard to ignore that a certain staple app has been in dire need of an update, and now it would seem Google is nearly ready
YouTube iPhone 5 update is on the way says Google
Smartphone reviews
Google has revealed that a YouTube update is definitely in the works for the iPhone 5 which would see improvements to the app and also make it compatible with the iPhone 5's 4-inch display.
With the last update having taken place in September the YouTube app along with Google Maps were both shunned by Apple when they launched the iPhone 5 with Google Maps being replaced by Apple Maps and YouTube being removed as an out-of-the-box application.
Speaking to the LA Times Google has confirmed that it is looking to update the app but doesn't give a timeframe for the release. There's still no word on whether Google will be releasing a dedicated Maps app for the iPhone 5.
Despite the success of the iPhone 5 there have been a number of popular apps that have been slow to react including the hugely popular BBC iPlayer application and Microsoft's new SmartGlass app.
Update: Since writing, the BBC have contacted us and confirmed that there will be a BBC iPlayer iPhone 5 update coming, no word on official timings as yet but we will keep you updated.
