Streaming service breaks milestone

Spotify has passed one million paid subscribers in Europe. The Swedish streaming service, which lets you listen to and share playlists with your pals, hit one million users across its free and paid for offerings two years ago.

Spotify founder Daniel Ek said, “It’s a testament to our fantastic users who continue to support us and spread the Spotify word, either by telling friends or sharing some of the 200 million playlists that you’ve put together so far.”

Ek said there were, “…even more cool new features,” to come, but kept tight-lipped on when the much-mooted US Spotify launch would take place.

Paying punters can choose between Spotify Unlimited for £4.99, which offers ad-free playback via PC or Mac, or Spotify Premium, which lets music lovers stream tunes using the service’s iPhone, Android and Symbian apps.
