Ahead of this weekend's F1 2012 season opening race in Melbourne, Sky has updated its Sky Sports iPad app to allow for live F1 video streaming
Renaming the app ‘Sky Sports’, the new iPad locked offering has added the broadcaster’s newly acquired F1 coverage with fans of the high-speed motorsport to be able to follow each and every race from a variety of cameras using the Sky F1 Race Control.
Further enhancing the standard television based coverage and commentary, Sky Sports iPad app users will be offered a selection of live streams to pick from including dedicated on-board and pit lane cameras.
Keeping F1 fans abreast of all the latest in-race activity, live race data including race positions and lap timings are at hand with latecomers to the action able to watch live highlights edits direct from within the application.
“The introduction of a bespoke F1™ companion experience to the Sky Sports App for iPad helps create an even richer experience, and in particular helps F1 fans really get to the heart of the sport,” David Gibbs, Director of Sky Sports Digital Media said. “Used in conjunction with the Sky Sports F1 HD channel, broadcasting coverage of every race of the season in stunning HD, the app will add further depth to our coverage, delivering fans an immersive, never-before-seen experience.”
