PSP Go price cut announced by Sony

Is Sony paving the way for the PSP 2?

Cheaper PSP Go not yet confirmed for UK gamers

Sony is set to slash the price of the PSP Go in the US and Japan from tomorrow, in what is likely to be a response to disappointing sales of the portable games console.

In the US, the Go will go from $249 to $199, while in Japan where the PSP Go had underwhelming first day sales when it launched in October last year, will drop from 26,800 yen to 16,800 yen. There's no news whether Sony will follow suit with the reductions in Europe.

The price cut could of course have something to do with the rumoured arrival of the Sony PSP 2, which many expect to launch by Christmas 2011, putting it in direct competition with the Nintendo 3DS.

In other PSP-related news, the portable console was revealed as the most returned gadget in the UK according to discount site myvouchercodes.co.uk, beating the iPad, Xbox 360s and the iPhone 4 to top spot. Disappointment in the product was the chief reason the majority of the 1833 users surveyed gave with regards to sending back their gadgets.
