Three new snappers, two with 3D skills, touted by Sony.
Sony’s Cyber-shot range has always been right at the top of the pile when it comes to compacts. But its three new offerings have given us a serious case of gadget lust this morning. Two of them, the WX5 and TX9, pack in 3D sweep panorama skills, while the T99 takes underwater shooting to the next level.
The TX9 and WX5 each come loaded up with BIONZ processors and 12.2 megapixels. But the calling card for both peepers is the 3D sweep panorama mode. Spotted last week in an update for the top end NEX-5 and NEX-3, this feature lets you take wide angle shots by sweeping the camera across your chosen subject, before it stitches the results together. You can then watch back on a 3D telly.
The WX5 comes with a Sony G lens and 5x optical zoom, while the TX9 rocks a Carl Zeiss lens and is pared back to 4x optical zoom.
The T99 might not have the same 3D sweep panorama feature, but it does offer an underwater version. It also totes a new Sweep Multi Angle, along with the TX9 and WX5, which uses sensors inside the camera to create 3D-style pics after you’ve taken your shot.
The TX9, WX5 and T99 are due to arrive in September, all with Full HD video recording. There’s also chatter that they’ll come with Sony’s TransferJet tech for wireless uploading.
