Details about Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag continue to leak at a furious pace. By now, the game's embargo could be favourably compared to a sieve that's been liberally peppered with buckshot from 12 gauge.
Last week, Kotaku showed off a poster of character art, detailing the game's new pirate setting ahead of Ubisoft's reveal event in London. Then, packshot art confirmed the leak on Kotaku, swiftly followed by stories that confirmed the game's release date and that it would be landing on next-gen consoles.
Now, the game's trailer has been leaked online:
While the graphics in the trailer all looks pre-rendered - no gameplay footage there - it does confirm a few more details about Ubisoft's next installment in their lucrative sandbox series. First up, if there was any doubt at all at this stage, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be set during the golden age of piracy. Furthermore, it'll feature Blackbeard as a character and the protagonist for the game is a cowled privateer called Edward Kenway - who is, more than likely, related to Connor Kenway, the half-British/half-Native American hero of Assassin's Creed III.
There's more good stuff besides; footage in the trailer shows Kenway fighting off hordes of enemies with two swords, piloting his ship through naval battles and even engaging in a spot of deep sea diving. If all of these pieces of the trailer are built around gameplay mechanics, there's a chance Black Flag could be as innovative as it is swoon-worthy to look at.
The embargo for London's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag event lifts today. Stay tuned for further details later...
