Sliding screen Apple laptop incoming?

Latest Apple patent revelations have revealed the company is working on a laptop come tablet hybrid featuring a traditional keyboard and transformable sliding display.

Following ideas similar to the Dell Duo in a patent entitled “Application Programming Interfaces for Scrolling Operations”, Apple has outlined a "laptop device [that] can be converted into a tablet device” alongside images or a sliding screened concept.

With the latest generation of MacBook Air machines featuring much the same innards as the company’s market leading tablet the Apple iPad without adding much additional bulk, it is not too much of a stretch to imagine an amalgamation of the two devices.

Whilst the Application Programming Interfaces for Scrolling Operations patent might not cover the screen sliding form factor depicted by the accompanying images, Apple outlined in their successful application: "It will be evident that various modifications may be made thereto without departing from the broader spirit and scope of the disclosure as set forth in the following claims.“

The company added: “The specification and drawings are, accordingly, to be regarded in an illustrative sense rather than a restrictive sense.”
