iPhone XR: prices and specs for Apple's cheaper, more colourful new iPhone

Launched alongside the new iPhone XS flagship, the XR is Apple's new entry-level mobile device

Apple has announced a more affordable new entry in its new iPhone range, the iPhone XR.

The iPhone XR, which was announced alongside the flagship new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, shares much of the tech of the more powerful devices, but comes installed with a different type of screen.

The iPhone XR comes in three storage configurations: 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.

The iPhone XR is prices starting at $749 for the 64GB model. Here are the prices across territories for all the models:

64GB: $749, £749, AU$1,229

128GB: $799, £799, AU$1,299

256GB: $899, £899, AU$1,479

Pre-orders for the iPhone XR begins on October 19, with the phone hitting store shelves on October 26.

iPhone Xr

In terms of hardware, the new iPhone XR comes installed with Apple's latest 7nm A12 processor, while its Liquid Retina screen is sized at 6.1-inches, which is larger than that installed on the flagship iPhone XS, however the panel is an LCD display not an OLED.

Camera-wise, the iPhone XR packs a single-lens rear camera - the same wide-angle camera that is installed on the iPhone XS.

Battery life, in comparison to the iPhone 8 Plus, is improved by 90 minutes.
